Description of Program:

The Cleft and Craniofacial program at The Royal Children’s Hospital in Melbourne, Australia is a busy fellowship. We see around 60-70 new craniofacial cases per year. There are around 60-70 new synostosis cases seen each year then additional other complex and rare craniofacial conditions. A similar number of new clefts are seen. The fellow will attend multidisciplinary clinics and also have their own fellow-run clinics.  They will attend theatre and be involved in the planning and execution of operative cases. The program requires the fellow to undertake research that reaches a level worthy of publication and /or presentation. There is a requirement to help with general paediatric plastics outside the sessions where there are no cleft or craniofacial sessions. The fellow is encouraged to attend any conferences that may be relevant to the training on the program. There is a well structured teaching program with weekly presentation of cases, reflective learning and planning for upcoming cases.

This is a well structured busy fellowship with a strong emphasis on working as a cohesive team.

Also, Melbourne is a great place to spend a year!
